The Poetry of the Psalms

Do the Biblical poems we call the ‘Psalms of David’ still speak to us? Can we use them as part of our spiritual life?

We welcome back to Ammerdown, Rabbi Howard Cooper who will lead another fascinating course. During the weekend, Howard says “We will approach some of the themes they address – love, war, hope, depression, joy, fear, abandonment, salvation, the absence of God, the quest for the divine, solitude, friendship – to see what connections we have, or can make, with these aspects of life. We will see how the language of the poet can take us into his inner world, and how it can help us towards our own.”

Rabbi Howard Cooper is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist as well as the Director of Spiritual Development at Finchley Reform Synagogue, London. He is a workshop leader, lecturer and writer exploring religious, Judaic, spiritual and psychological themes and is the author of The Alphabet of Paradise: an A-Z of Spirituality for Everyday Life.

Led by: Rabbi Howard Cooper

Please arrive by 6pm on Friday. Course ends with lunch on Sunday.
