Playing in the Presence of God

In the busyness of life where time is often spent serving others, it is all too easy to forget the childlike delight and wonder essential to appreciating the gift of the Kingdom of God. Stepping away from the pressures of everyday life and into a safe and relaxing environment can release our ability to be creative. Much as children learn through play, exploring our own creativity can lead us on a journey of self-discovery and newfound freedom. This workshop/retreat is not about creating works of art but about paying attention to what happens during the creative process. Through a variety of media, both familiar and unfamiliar, ranging from paints and collage to clay and sand, there will be time each day to 'play' with the materials, time to reflect and time to share with others, alongside times of shared worship and prayer.Comments from last year's course include: “Space and resources to be creative, to play, to be reflective, to share”. “A safe space to explore what God is saying to me”. “Wonderful to have a grounded, sensitive and caring facilitator with a warm sense of humour”. “Full of laughter, love and compassion, plus boxes full of wonderful stuff with which to play and create and space and time to reflect”. “A heart-warming, soul-searching, eye-watering few days ..... in a beautiful place”. “Fellowship and fun”.

Anna Garvie, an Anglican priest and retired healthcare chaplain, will accompany you during this week. Anna is also a spiritual director with a special interest in art as therapy and will be available to give one-to-one accompaniment if requested.

Led by: Anna Garvie
