Pauline Payne is a freelance jewellery designer. She studied at Portsmouth College of Art and Design and has gained a number of prestigious awards for her work. She has also been a popular tutor for over 20 years, as evidenced by the feedback she has received since starting to teach at Ammerdown: “Pauline is amazingly patient and good-humoured. She gave individual attention whenever needed for as long as necessary and managed to make everyone feel ‘well looked after’.” (Participant 2017)
This course, which is suitable for both complete beginners and more experienced students, covers essential techniques such as saw piercing, soldering and polishing. An extensive range of tools will be made available and all materials can be purchased from the tutor.
Students will start by making a silver band ring and progress to items of their choice such as pendants, earrings, cufflinks, brooches, and bangles. Thanks to Pauline’s expert guidance, everyone will leave with several hand-made items. Ammerdown guests on Pauline’s courses have been truly astonished at what they have been able to create – even complete beginners. And the fact that all the jewellery they take away was made with their own hands makes it of course that much more special!
N.B. * The fee for the course does not cover the cost of materials for the additional items you will make. This cost should be in the region of £40 to £50, but will depend on the price of silver at the time and on what is made.
