May the Lord bless you and keep you! May the Lord let his face shine on you, and be gracious to you! On April 19th the Cardinals of the Holy Roman Church elected me bishop of Rome and Universal Shepherd of the Catholic Church.
In announcing you my election and the solemn inauguration of my pontificate, Sunday April 24th, at 10:00, I trust in the help of the Most High to go on with the dialogue and to strengthen the collaboration with the sons and daughters of the Jewish people.
