International Holocaust Remembrance Day

26 January 2022

This 27 January, anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, we commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Our prayer, this year, is inspired by the theme designated by the United Nations: “Memory, Dignity and Justice”.

We pray that by keeping alive knowledge of the events of the Shoah, we will combat the distortion and denial spread via some media and intensified by insecurities during the pandemic. We remember the six million Jewish men, women and children who were murdered and the millions of other victims of Nazism.

We pray that through our remembering, we continue to work for justice, peace and reconciliation for those who died and all who have died defending human dignity. We pray for Jewish people everywhere and for all people who suffer atrocities in our world today because of their religion, beliefs or race.

We invite all to pray and work together for a world where genocide, anti-Semitism, racism and discrimination of any kind no longer find a place.
