Shalom Centre in Melbourne has become the central meeting place for several groups planning their activities in Jewish Christian Relations in the city.     The Executive of the Council of Christians and Jews (Vic) meets monthly to plan its varied programme of events for the year  including the launch of its annual journal “Gesher”  which is an educational journal of quality.   This journal is distributed widely to the various communities.     There are several  CCJ’s   sub-committees and some them also meet at the Centre.  

For 18 years now a small ecumenical committee meets at the Centre to prepare a Shoah Commemoration Service for Christians which is held each year in a different Christian Church.   Last year we had secondary college students from five different Christian Colleges attend and participate in the Service and we are hoping that this will further develop.

Our Sionian C/J/R team meets several times a year to share our own involvements in J/C/R and bring events or issues to the team which may need to be addressed.   We are currently planning an event here in Melbourne  to celebrate the 50^th anniversary of Nostra Aetate for 2015.

We are fortunate to have numerous inter-faith activities in Melbourne with involvement from the various world religions giving us ample opportunity for our own education in other faiths.
