Celebration Liturgy - Blessing of Leadership Team

23/07/2010: General House - Rome | Photo gallery

22nd July

Feast of Mary Magdalene

Rejoicing we gathered together yesterday evening at the Eucharist to celebrate our new team. We were reminded that with our new team comes new life, new beginnings, and new hope.

During our celebration, Maureen, Darlene, Helen and Marta enwrapped Oonah, Claire, Ivete and Marge in the prayer shawls that were given to them in 2004 – a symbol of passing on their leadership to a new team, a new beginning.

On this beautiful feast of Mary Magdalene we recall Mary as the first women disciple – she ran to tell the Good News.

What do we need to be saying in the Church and in the world today?

How can we share the uniqueness of Sion and run with our story?

Opening Song:

Here in this place new life is streaming, now is the darkness vanished away.

See in this space our fears and our dreamings,

Brought here to you in the light of this day.

Gather us in, the lost and forsaken; gather us in the blind and the lame;

Call to us now and we shall awaken, we shall arise at the sound of our name.

We are the young our lives are a mystery, we are the old who yearn for your face

We have been sung throughout all of hist’ry, called to be light to the whole human race.

Gather us in the rich and the haughty, gather us in the proud and the strong;

Give us a heart so meek and so lowly , give us the courage to enter the song.

Here we will take the wine and the water, here we will take the bread of new birth.

Here you shall call your sons and your daughters, call us anew to be salt for the earth.

Give us to drink the wine of compassion, give us to eat the bread that is you.

Nourish us well and teach us to fashion, lives that are holy and hearts that are true.

I cannot dance,O Lord unless you lead me,

And ifg you want me to leap for joy,

Then you must be the first tod dance and to sing

And I will follow you; inb your echo I will ring

Then, only then,

Then, only then,

Then, only then will I leap for joy!

I cannot sing , O Lord unless you lead me,

And if you want me to sing for joy,

Then you must be the first to sing out your song

And I will follow you and sing right along.

Then, only then,

Then, only then

Then, only then will I sing for joy!

Lead me Lord in your joyful dancing.

I will follow in your dance of life.

Then all my living will be true to you,

My loving God.
