Sion Receives Recognition from the Australian Government

On May 1st, 2013 Marianne Dacy NDS was invested with an AM (Member of the Order of Australia) for her work in Christian Jewish relations and for the Congregation of Sisters of Sion. The award had been announced in the media on Australia Day, January 26. Also mentioned was her work as founding senior archivist of the Archive of Australian Judaica at the University of Sydney, as national secretary of the Australian and New South Wales Councils of Christians and Jews, and as secretary and treasurer of the Australian Association of Jewish Studies.

In the centre of the photo is Shirley Sedawie’s cousin, who also received an award for her work as a volunteer in several organisations. She is 82 and resembles Shirley.
