In Memoriam Orietta Pogson Doria Pamphilj
With the death of Orietta Pogson Doria Pamphilj on Nov. 11, 2000 the SIDIC Center has lost a great friend and generous benefactor. It was she and her husband Frank who, in May 1970, welcomed the SIDIC staff to spacious quarters in their palazzo in the historic center of Rome. Both she and Frank were faithful members of the SIDIC Association until their deaths (Frank died in 1998) and Orietta was a dedicated member of the Board of Directors for several years. Descended from a long line of Italian nobility, Orietta was a woman of solid faith and firm convictions, who reached out generously to others. This generosity of Orietta and Frank was matched by their breadth of vision: the tenants of their two Roman properties included not only SIDIC but five other ecumenical initiatives. Saddened by her passing, the staff of SIDIC, the SIDIC Association and the Sisters of Our Lady of Sion remember Donna Orietta with heartfelt gratitude.
