Sr Katherine nds played a pivotal role in the setting up and the early years of the Ammerdown Centre. She and four other sisters of our Lady of Sion arrived a few weeks before Ammerdown opened in 1973, to help run the Centre and also support the interfaith and dialogue work at the heart of Ammerdown's vision. Sr Katherine became Deputy Warden and worked closely with Andrew Aldrich, the first Warden of Ammerdown. She stayed at Ammerdown until 1987 and played a major role in ensuring that it ran smoothly from the very beginning. Long standing guests remember her as a formidable lady with very high standards but also a heart of gold. She was 98 when she passed away in December 2012, but she kept in touch with her 'beloved' Ammerdown nearly to the end. Ammerdown has lost a very dear friend and a key figure in its history.
