An online conversation with Prof Amy-Jill Levine

The community of Sisters of Our Lady of Sion in Australia have joined with the Australian Council of Christians & Jews to present an online conversation on Thursday 16 May with Prof Amy-Jill Levine.

The title of the event is: “Who Is My Neighbour? Why Context Matters”.

Prof Levine will explore the concept of neighbour and the context in which we find it in the Scriptures, to show how an understanding of neighbour is integral to engaging in dialogue.

Amy-Jill Levine is Rabbi Stanley M. Kessler Distinguished Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies at Hartford International University for Religion and Peace (Hartford, Connecticut, USA) and University Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies Emerita and Mary Jane Werthan Professor of Jewish Studies Emerita, at Vanderbilt University (Nashville, Tennessee, USA).

The May 16 event is a step in preparation for a conference scheduled by the Australian Council of Christians and Jews for February 2025 and supported by the Sisters of Our Lady of Sion. The conference will focus on dialogue and its contribution to the flourishing of society.
